Training & employment
St Anthony Family Medical Practice has partnered with Beyond Medical and RWAV to offer support and training to GP Registrars and assist them in becoming the best they can be within their industry. The training provides them with the necessary support and experience that they require and opens the doors of rural medical clinics to their future GPs.
Strathfieldsaye Primary Health, Campaspe Medical Centre, Elmore Primary Health and Heathcote Primary Health have partnered with Monash University to provide placement opportunities for medical students in their fourth year of studies. This allows medical students to establish their practical clinical skills and provides us with an opportunity to expose our next generation of GPs to the health needs of rural communities.
St Anthony Family Medical Practice is proud to be supporting the Northern Rivers Nurse Graduate Program. This program provides Registered Nurses the opportunity to consolidate both their theoretical and clinical skills in a rural community setting. The program includes training at the rural hospital in Boort and Rochester in addition to the clinics in Boort and Strathfieldsaye.
Monthly clinical meetings are conducted to continually review services, updated medical information and to make the necessary improvements to procedures and policies. Regular training sessions are conducted for doctors at all practices. This enables us to ensure we are offering a consistent education service across all practices, allowing staff the opportunity to maintain their training and education. Our Practice Nurse Manger, who is based at Strathfieldsaye, coordinates the continued education of all our GP’s, Practice Nurses and Graduate Nurses.
In addition to these internal training opportunities, we encourage attendance at various externally run specialist and GP health conferences by all of our GPs and Nurses. This ensures our doctors and nurses are maintaining their interest and knowledge in all new developments and technologies in the health field.
We are committed to maintaining knowledgeable and committed health professionals as well as reception and administration staff in order to continue to deliver high quality health care across our practices. We provide full support for all of our staff, including regular internal training events and meetings, and encourage the attendance at externally run conferences to further our knowledge and skill set.
